Starting Potatoes in Containers

Gardeners with limited ground space can explore how to grow potatoes using containers and other compact growing systems. Select a container with sufficient depth and drainage holes, then fill it with a suitable growing medium. Place healthy seed potatoes in the prepared material and provide consistent moisture as shoots develop. Depending on the growing method, additional soil can be added around the plants as they grow. Position the container where it receives adequate sunlight and check moisture levels regularly because containers may dry faster than garden beds. When foliage matures and begins to decline, the crop can be harvested carefully, revealing the potatoes beneath the growing medium.
