What is Endobronchial Ultrasound Biopsy?
Endobronchial ultrasound biopsy (EBUS) is a minimally invasive medical procedure that uses an endoscope fitted with an ultrasound probe at its tip. This allows visualization of structures around the bronchial tubes and near the lungs. During an EBUS procedure, the probe is inserted through the mouth or nose into the lungs. Ultrasound images are then used to guide needles through the bronchial wall and into surrounding tissues and lymph nodes to obtain tissue samples for examination.
