U4GM Windrose Where to Find Relics and Farm Gear

Plan your Windrose run with tested tips for relic quests, farming, swamp survival, weapons, ship repairs, and what's coming in the Ashlands update.

.

If you've put a silly number of evenings into Windrose, the latest word from Kraken Express is the sort of news that makes you sit back and relax a bit. The team has said there won't be any progression wipes on the road to 1.0, so your ship upgrades, base work, stored resources, and hard-earned Windrose Items aren't about to vanish overnight. That matters more than it sounds. In survival games, people don't just build for stats. They build routines, routes, little safe corners of the map. Knowing that progress will carry forward gives the whole game a steadier feel, especially with the Ashlands biome expected in roughly six months.

The Forgotten Relics push

For most players, Forgotten Relics is where Windrose stops being cosy and starts asking if you've actually learned anything. The hunt for the second Charon's Obol takes you into the Ancient Swamps, then straight through the Tainted Forest. And no, it's not the kind of place where you clear every pack and stroll around looting. The toxicity meter is the real boss there. Once that purple bar fills, you're done. Most people who've survived it will tell you the same thing: wear your best Taint Resistance gear, sprint often, and don't get greedy. Grab the Senkamati tablets, unlock the Ritual Site, then save your patience for the High Priestess. She hits in wide circles, and if you hang around after an attack starts, you'll pay for it.

Why your farm matters more than you think

Back in the Foothills, the slower work is just as important. Farming looks harmless at first, maybe even optional, but it becomes the backbone of your mid-game setup. Once you've got a copper pickaxe, make a trip to the Ancient Farm and dig up Fertile Soil. You can plant basic seeds in plain ground, sure, but garden beds are where the better crops belong. They cost five soil each, so plan before you place them. Flax should be high on your list. You'll need loads of it later, and it takes about 70 minutes of real time to grow. I'd plant it before heading out, then come back to a tidy little crafting payday.

Foothills secrets and a useful friend

The Foothills also reward players who poke around instead of rushing straight to the next marker. Ancient Fire Sanctuaries are worth your time, though they can be a bit fiddly. You'll deal with firebowls, hidden switches, and the kind of layered puzzle design that makes you second-guess whether you missed something obvious. If you'd rather gain something with teeth, visit the Ancient Village ritual site. Bring Ritual Oil and meat to the altar, and you can earn the Boar Whistle. That summons Truffle, a small boar companion who's tougher than he looks. He won't carry the whole fight for you, but he can distract enemies long enough to save a bad pull.

Gear choices that keep you alive

Your build still matters, of course. Strength players should give the Executioner a serious look, especially if you enjoy stacking heavy crits and ending fights before they drag on. Sailors have a different problem: staying afloat when cannon fire starts landing. A Master Combat Repair Kit can restore 60% of your hull over ten seconds, which is huge, but don't pop it while you're still eating broadsides. Break line of fire first, then repair. Players who want to prepare faster may choose to buy Windrose Items before longer voyages, but smart timing and clean positioning still decide whether you sail home or sink.
