With deportation numbers rising, Canada’s getting tough on immigration
While everybody seems to be focused on the United States ramping up deportations under the new Trump administration, it seems that Canada has been heading in that direction already. Figures indicate that Canada’s deportation numbers rose to their decade-highest in 2024, and this number might even go higher next year with more funds allocated for deportations in the budget for 2025. The majority of the deportees were rejected refugee status applicants, the Canadian border agency confirmed to Reuters.
