Changing Your Address and Utilities During Your Big Move

........................................................

.

There are a number of different tasks that you need to focus on when it is time to move to a new apartment. You will be able to find a lot of tasks like packing and getting the movers hired and ready to go. But that is just the start to some of the work that you will need to complete. There are also some smaller tasks that you will be able to work on and if you don’t get them done, you may find yourself in the dark when you are all done.

Two of the tasks that you need to focus on when it is time to do a big move is to change the utilities over to your name and let the post office know about your address change so that you can still get your mail when you move. Both of these should be done a week or so before the big move so that you won’t forget about them.

First, let’s focus on the utilities. You need to make sure that all of the utilities are moved over to your new place. This can be the internet, water, and electricity to name a few. If you are moving within the same town, you will be able to talk to the utility company and just transfer them over. If you are moving to a new town, you will need to cancel the old utilities and then switch over to a new company, as well as pay a security deposit to get it set up.

Don’t forget to head to the post office sometime before your move to make sure that you do a change of address. This will make sure that your mail is forwarded over to the new address. You will need to tell some of your major bills and other things about the move, but doing mail forwarding will ensure that you don’t miss out on some of that important mail when you go from one home to a new one.
