An Abu Dhabi court has ordered a man to pay Dh25,000 in compensation for violating another person’s privacy by filming him and sharing the image online without consent.
In a judgment delivered on January 6, the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Court ruled in favour of the plaintiff after a criminal court had earlier convicted the defendant of taking a photograph of him in a public place and posting it on Snapchat without permission.
